Dry dog food ranked by price per pound

Every bag is sorted by what you actually pay per pound of kibble, cheapest first, so a 40 lb bag and a 4 lb bag compare fairly. Filter by life stage, breed size or brand to see the real ranking. Ordering checked October 21, 2026.

Amazon changes prices many times a day, so the price itself is on Amazon: the order here is by price per pound at the last check. Multi-packs are ranked by their total weight.

How to read this

Dog food comes in 3 lb trial bags and 50 lb sacks, so the sticker price tells you very little. Dividing the price by the bag weight gives the only number worth comparing: dollars per pound. Grocery brands usually land around $1 to $1.50 per pound in the big bags, mainstream premium brands around $2 to $3.50, and small-bag specialty or breed-specific formulas anywhere from $5 to over $10 per pound.

The list covers dry kibble sold on Amazon.com. Wet food, toppers, treats, freeze-dried and air-dried foods are left out so that every row is a plain bag of dry food compared on the same footing. Use the filters to narrow it to puppy, senior, small or large breed, grain-free or one brand, and the cheapest per-pound option in that group is always at the top.
